Launching on Monday, 16 June, the public can book a place directly with R.M.Williams on tours that will be led by the brand’s own craftspeople. Each 120-minute experience gives visitors an up-close look at the bootmaking process, from cutting and stitching to lasting and finishing, inside the very workshop where it all happens.
While the brand has previously hosted private, invitation-only tours through bespoke partnerships, this is the first time members of the public can book a tour directly and experience the bootmaking process from start to finish.
R.M.Williams Chief Executive Officer Paul Grosmann said the brand was proud to open the doors of its workshop and share the home of Australian manufacturing with the world.
“These tours are more than just a sightseeing opportunity – they’re a tribute to our heritage, a celebration of our craftspeople, and a thank you to the loyal customers who have supported us through generations,” Mr Grosmann said.
“Each tour is a celebration of South Australian manufacturing – an open invitation to all who are curious, inspired, or simply want to see how a true icon is made.
“Every one of our boots begins as a single piece leather, and passes through the hands of more than 80 skilled artisans. Watching that transformation – from rawhide to finished boot – is something special. Our craftsmen and women cut each unique shape with a sharp steel blade and exceptional precision. It’s a privilege to witness that process in person.
“I have no doubt these tours will quickly become part of the South Australian bucket list: the Barossa and McLaren Vale, Adelaide Oval, Kangaroo Island, Coober Pedy — and of course, the R.M.Williams Workshop in Salisbury, the home of Australia’s best boots.”
Tours will run every Monday at 9:00am and 1:00pm, with a maximum of ten guests per session to ensure an immersive, personal experience. The cost is $60 per person, with all proceeds going directly back to support R.M.Williams’ craftspeople.
