More than just a sale, this beloved event honours R.M.Williams’ enduring connection to
Adelaide, its historic home, and the loyal customers who have supported the brand for
more than 90 years.

R.M.Williams has a proud history of providing a sale event in its hometown. Starting
back in 1999, the first iteration of the now famous Wayville Sale was first held upstairs
at the brand’s original workshop at 5 Percy Street in Prospect. The sale became so
popular that it outgrew that site and was relocated to the Adelaide Showground in 2004.

Returning for the first time since 2022, this year’s event is highly anticipated, offering a
rare opportunity for customers to invest in timeless, handcrafted pieces. Visitors can
look forward to exclusive access to R.M.Williams’ craftsmanship, including the brand’s
iconic leather boots, with offers that won’t be found anywhere else. This event is a
unique opportunity to own a piece of Australia’s much-loved heritage brand.

“We are thrilled to welcome our loyal customers back to the legendary Wayville Sale
event,” R.M.Williams Chief Executive Officer Paul Grosmann said.

“Adelaide is where our story began and it remains the heart of our craftsmanship and
the Australian manufacturing community.

“This event is more than just an opportunity to purchase exclusive pieces – it’s about
celebrating the generations of artisans, makers, and customers who have built and
continue to sustain this iconic Australian brand.”

R.M.Williams Chief Operating Officer Tara Moses reinforced the importance of local
craftsmanship, highlighting the people who bring each piece to life.

“Our workshop in Salisbury is more than just a place of work—it’s a symbol of our
heritage, where more than 400 skilled craftspeople continue to shape each product with
care and dedication,” she said.

“As we expand globally, we remain deeply committed to our roots.

“R.M.Williams rarely provides discounts, but this event at the Adelaide Showground is a
special acknowledgment of the city’s unique place in our story – as our historic home
and the centre of our manufacturing and distribution.”

In the nearly four years since Tattarang purchased the company, R.M.Williams has
doubled its production space at the workshop in Adelaide and created more than 350
new jobs across the country.
