As the countdown to the 2026 Commonwealth Games begins, Team Australia will step onto the global stage wearing ceremonial and village uniforms designed by iconic Australian heritage brand R.M.Williams, in partnership with Commonwealth Games Australia.
Eight years after first designing uniforms for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, R.M.Williams continues its role as a legacy uniform partner to Commonwealth Games Australia, celebrating an ongoing commitment to Australian sport, craftsmanship and culture.
The ceremonial and village uniforms are distinctly Australian in look and spirit, drawing on the country’s green and gold sporting heritage, with Indigenous design elements woven through graphics and detailing. At their heart is a strong sense of unity, with artwork symbolising the athletes coming together as one team.
R.M.Williams designer Charles Kennedy, explained the focus on creating uniforms that carried meaning as well as impact.
“Designing for Team Australia goes beyond appearance. It’s about capturing pride, identity, and belonging, and creating pieces worthy of the moment athletes represent their country.
For Glasgow, we developed a distinctly Australian uniform, grounded in national colours and shaped with purpose. Sustainability guided material choices and construction, supporting comfort, performance and a more lasting, thoughtful outcome.” Kennedy said.
Designed for both ceremony and everyday life in the Athletes’ Village, the collection balances form with function for more than 500 athletes and team members travelling to Glasgow. Versatile, layered pieces are built for the city’s changing summer conditions, spanning tailored blazers, casual separates and outerwear, anchored by limited-edition leather Craftsman boots created exclusively for Team Australia.
R.M.Williams designer Celine Vu said functionality and wearability were central to the design process.
“These uniforms needed to work hard for the team, from formal moments to day-to-day wear in the Athletes’ Village. Every piece was designed to feel comfortable, adaptable and inherently Australian, while still reflecting the craftsmanship R.M.Williams is known for,” said Vu.
Craft and sustainability sit at the core of the range, featuring recycled nylons, organic cottons and recycled linings, alongside select pieces crafted in the R.M.Williams workshop. Inclusive sizing ensures every athlete and team member is equipped to feel comfortable, confi dent and connected.
As Team Australia prepares for the Games, the uniforms mark a moment of pride and anticipation as athletes from across the Commonwealth unite for a world-class celebration of sport.
The 2026 Commonwealth Games will take place in Glasgow from 23 July to 2 August 2026.
