Dutch-born Mr Heymeijer brings more than 20 years’ experience in global hotel and hospitality management to Z1Z, the lifestyle business of Tattarang, including management experience leading high-functioning teams in four continents.

He has worked for some of the world’s most renowned travel and tourism brands including Emirates Airline, in Dubai, and Emirates Hotels & Resorts, in Sydney, and his wide-ranging experience includes hospitality training and hotel and resort management.

Mr Heymeijer has managed leading hotels, including Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa, Australia’s first carbon-neutral wildlife and conservation-based lodge in the Blue Mountains, which was named Best Australian Hotel three years in a row (2011-13) under his leadership, and has unparalleled experience in all facets of food and beverage management.

Prior to taking up the Z1Z role, Mr Heymeijer was a senior consultant for a Netherlands-based hospitality and coaching consultancy in conjunction with other roles focused on sustainable luxury and experience-based tourism in Europe.

Tattarang CEO Andrew Hagger welcomed Mr Heymeijer’s appointment, saying it marked an important milestone in Z1Z’s journey to become one of Australia’s leading lifestyle businesses.

“It’s exciting to announce that Joost has joined the Z1Z and broader Tattarang family as inaugural CEO of the hospitality company. He arrives at a pivotal time in Z1Z’s short history and we know he’s going to use his wealth of expertise and enthusiasm to help our team continue to create authentic and truly Australian experiences in the hospitality and lifestyle sectors,” Mr Hagger said.

“Z1Z has gone from strength to strength in a short space of time with a portfolio of some of Australia’s leading luxury destinations including Gaia Retreat & Spa in Byron Bay and Cape Lodge in Margaret River, demonstrating our commitment to invest in an enviable, world-class portfolio, and we believe Joost is the perfect person to lead the company into a new exciting phase of growth.”

Tourism Australia Managing Director Phillipa Harrison also welcomed Mr Heymeijer’s appointment and return to the Australian market.

“It is tremendous to have someone of Joost’s calibre back in Australia and taking the helm of an exciting and expanding tourism portfolio at this critical time as Australia looks to rebuild its tourism industry and inspire travellers to explore our country,” she said.
Mr Heymeijer said he was looking forward to taking the reins and building upon Z1Z’s already solid foundations.

“It’s not often you get an opportunity like this to head up a hospitality business that houses so many iconic brands and globally unique properties, and I’m eager to work with the existing Z1Z team to showcase what we have to the world,” said Mr Heymeijer.

“It’s an honour to oversee such a diverse portfolio and I can’t wait to broaden the company’s offerings and reputation even further.”

Z1Z invests in premium lifestyle products and experiences that celebrate the unique essence of Australia.
